Q: When and where is NAfME 2017 National In-Service Music Education Conference? November 12-15, 2017 (Sunday through Wednesday) at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Conference Center in Dallas, TX.
Q: Who should attend NAfME National 2017 In-Service Music Education Conference? This conference is intended to fuel your passion and increase the volume of your music teaching knowledge! Music program leaders, administrators, classroom educators, collegiate students, and private studio teachers will benefit from hundreds of practical sessions. All attendees will learn new skills and techniques that they can use immediately upon returning to the classroom.
We are balancing intensive learning with special events that will recharge your battery!
Family and friends are also welcome! There are dozens of activities in and around the resort that will keep your guests busy and happy.
Q: Why should I attend? You will be surrounded by attendees from across the country who share your passion for music education. We have also created a professional development line-up of the best clinicians and specialists from all interest areas. If networking, learning, and being inspired are important to you – you cannot miss this!
Q: What can I do in my free time in Dallas? Visit historic downtown Grapevine and check out a variety of restaurants, winery tasting rooms, boutiques, and art galleries. Lake Grapevine offers lake activities (weather permitting), picnic and camping facilities. And for those that don’t want to travel off-site, the Gaylord Texan offers a variety of dining and recreational activities.
Q: My ensemble would like to register to be an official NAfME National In-Service Conference Performing Group. How can I apply? To review and begin the application process, please click here. To review performance FAQs and other instructions, click here. All directors of small to medium size ensembles (25 performers or fewer), representing all levels and disciplines, are welcome to apply. The deadline to apply is April 17th.
Q: What are the registration fees; are there any discounts? All registration rates are listed on the registration page; early bird discount rates are offered until September 30, 2017. NAfME members receive significant discounts. Don’t wait!
Q: What does my registration fee include? Conference registration includes hundreds of professional development sessions among more than 10 interest areas, General Session and Keynote, Opening Night Activity, activities in NAfME Central, Young Composers Concert, and more exciting events (will be announced soon!). This year four micro-credentials are also available.
Q: Where and when is registration? Registration is located in the Center Pre-Function space on the Ballroom Level and is open Sunday from 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday from 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, and Tuesday 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
Q: May I bring a guest? If so how can I register my guest? Yes, guest registration is $99 and allows guests to participate in all FREE conference events including General Session and Keynote, Opening Night Activity, activities in NAfME Central, the Young Composers Concert and all other free events. Your purchase a guest pass online. Guests must be non-music educators.
Q: What is the registration cancellation/refund policy? You may cancel your registration and receive a full refund up to 2 weeks prior to the conference.
Q: What materials should I bring? Yourself and a thirst for knowledge! If special materials are needed for a session, that information will be provided in the session detail on the registration site.
Q: What is the dress code for the meeting? We want you to relax and be comfortable – so whatever you are comfortable in is what you should wear! (Within reason, of course).
Q: When should I arrive and depart from NAfME National 2017 In-Service Conference? We suggest attendees arrive by noon on November 12th to attend the Music Program Leaders Summit or any time on Sunday to attend sessions beginning Monday at 8:00 AM. We suggest attendees depart Wednesday at 10:30 AM or later.
Q: Where do I make my hotel reservation? We have a special rate for conference attendees of $215 per night. Reserve your room now! The hotel room block rate ends October 27, 2017.
Q: What is the hotel cancellation policy? Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made within 72 hours of arrival will forfeit one night’s room and tax.
Q: Does the facility offer complimentary Wi-Fi? If you are a guest at the Gaylord Texan, internet is included in the resort fee. It will work in your guest room, the atriums, and the lobby.
